You Just Had a Baby - Let Someone Take Care of You
Postpartum Nourishment and Support for your 4th Trimester
Safe Food Handler - IPAC Trained - Infant CPR - Lactation Trained - Serving Families in Greater Victoria
You’re hungry, you’re tired. Your estrogen levels have just gone from 100x their normal amount in pregnancy to plummeting to menopause levels, just 24 hours after giving birth. You’re going through an internal reconstruction of who you are.
Everyone asks about the baby, but you quietly wonder when someone will ask about you. It doesn’t take away from the happiness of welcoming a new baby to name how hard it is.
You deserve to be held, too.
Nobody warned you it would feel like this

“When I opened the fridge at 2 am and saw those labelled containers I nearly cried. Val was the most helpful part of my postpartum experience”
— Julia, Mother of 1Food Is Part of How I Care For You
After baby arrives, even simple things like feeding yourself can feel overwhelming. Meals are often skipped, rushed or replaced with whatever is easiest. But nourishment is an important part of your post-labour recovery.
During my visits, I prepare warm, easy-to-digest food in your kitchen so there is always something ready to eat. Inspired by traditional postpartum practices, these foods are designed to support your healing.
This isn’t separate from my work as your postpartum doula. It is part of how I care for you.
Because when a mother is nourished, everything feels a bit more manageable.
For families who want focused food support, I also offer a Fill-Your-Fridge Day, a dedicated visit to prepare and stock your kitchen with healing meals and snacks.
This Window Is Short. The Better You’re Cared For, The More Your Whole Family Benefits
